A group of 18 people from the Churchill Avenue Apartments recently completed an eight-week Cambridge Police Senior Citizen Academy program.

SeniorAcademy2012.jpgThe seniors took a field trip to the Robert W. Healy Safety Facility where they practiced their aim using the department’s firearms training simulator and they also toured the building.

The seniors also learned about police priorities regarding traffic enforcement, narcotics investigations and domestic violence. They also learned about the tools and tactics of the Cambridge Police Bomb Unit and the Special Response Team.

The program was facilitated by Cambridge Police Senior Outreach Officer Daniel Burroso.
