Police investigating more gunfire in Cambridge Wednesday
Police are investigating gunfire at a Cambridge park Wednesday night, but said today there is no information linking the incident to a double shooting Sunday.
Cambridge Police said in a citizen advisory this morning that no one was injured in a reported shooting at Hoyt Field near Montague Street Wednesday at about 11 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing the gunshots and police located spent bullet shell casings at the park entrance.
Police said they have no information that the gunfire was linked to a shooting on Willow Street Sunday night, but investigators are not ruling it out.
Sunday night, 16-year-old Charlene Holmes was shot and killed, and 18-year-old Thanialee Cotto-Felix seriously injured at about 8 p.m. in an apparent drive by shooting.
Cotto-Felix was shot one time in the abdomen and remains in critical condition Thursday, said Stephanie Guyotte, a spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone’s office.
Cotto-Felix is a senior at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, which is holding its graduation ceremony tonight.
Guyotte said no arrests have been made in the Willow Street shooting, but the investigation is active and ongoing.
The gunfire at Hoyt Field Wednesday was about 1 ½ miles from the site of the shooting Sunday, which was near Donnelly Field.
