A woman was robbed in a similar incident at First and Athenaeum streets in Kendall Square on the night of Jan. 10, according to an advisory issued by police.
Both robberies occurred between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., but police said it is unknown if they were related.
Police are asking residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to walk with a friend or in a group when possible. More safety tips can be found at www.cambridgepolice.org/safetytips.
