Cambridge Police are asking residents to be vigilant after two women were robbed, possibly at knifepoint, in Kendall Square and Cambridgeport this month.

The latest robbery occurred Monday night in Cambridgeport at Allston and Kenwood streets when a man approached a female from behind and held an object, which police said could have been a knife, to the woman’s neck and demanded money.

A woman was robbed in a similar incident at First and Athenaeum streets in Kendall Square on the night of Jan. 10, according to an advisory issued by police.

Both robberies occurred between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., but police said it is unknown if they were related.

Police are asking residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to walk with a friend or in a group when possible. More safety tips can be found at www.cambridgepolice.org/safetytips. Anyone with information about the robberies is being asked to call Cambridge Police at 617-349-3300 go online at www.cambridgepolice.org/tips.
