The Massachusetts Municipal Association has named the City of Cambridge’s website the best in the Commonwealth for a community with more than 50,000 people.

The city’s website, www.cambridgema.gov/, earned the top spot at the Association’s annual meeting, which was held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston Friday and Saturday.

The Association praised the city’s efforts in making its website an effective tool for the community, according to a press release from the City of Cambridge Monday.

Websites were judged on several criteria, including whether they are clearly branded as the official municipal government site, are easily navigable and well-organized, whether they offer a robust search function and whether they offer up-to-date information.

“We are very proud of this recognition and want to share this award with the many city departments that have worked with us to improve their respective web pages, making them more user friendly and interactive,” said Mary Hart, chief information officer for the City of Cambridge.
