Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) pediatrician Jill Kasper, MD, has won the 2013 Primary Care Award for Teaching and Mentoring presented by Partners HealthCare. The award recognizes those committed to mentoring the next generation of primary care clinicians, particularly younger clinicians as they progress along their career paths.

“Dr. Kasper is a thoughtful, patient-centered provider who, in a relatively short but already distinguished career, has set the standard for primary care practice and exceptional medical education for our future practitioners,” said David Osler, MD, CHA’s Associate Chief of Pediatrics, who practices with Dr. Kasper at Somerville Pediatrics, located at CHA’s Broadway Health Center.

Dr. Kasper joined Somerville Pediatrics in 2004 and serves as an instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed her specialty training in pediatrics at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Among her experience and accomplishments include a key role with the innovative Harvard Medical School-Cambridge Integrated Clerkship, for which she has served as a preceptor, site coordinator, and pediatric liaison. She teaches CHA Family Medicine residents, precepts Boston College nurse practitioner graduate students, and acts as a faculty mentor for senior residents. In 2010, Dr. Kasper became a Fellow in Medical Education at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, in acknowledgment of her commitment to teaching, and she also received the Medical Student Teaching Award from MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

Dr. Kasper received the award at Partners HealthCare’s Fifth Annual Primary Care Recognition Dinner on May 16th at the Newton Marriott.
