Transportation officials have postponed a disruption of Red Line train service over the Longfellow Bridge this weekend because of the "Rolling Rally" parade for the Boston Red Sox.

Red Line trains will run over the bridge this weekend, as the MBTA is expecting more than two million riders on the subway Saturday for the parade.

Before the Red Sox won the World Series Wednesday, state transportation officials had been planning to replace Red Line trains with buses over the Longfellow Bridge this weekend because of an ongoing $255.5 million bridge rehabilitation project.

The planned closure of a single lane of Boston-bound traffic over the bridge has also been canceled this weekend. However, much of Cambridge Street on the Boston side of bridge is part of Saturday's parade route and will be closed from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.

The next disruption of Red Line service over the bridge is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24.
