Canton’s Temple Beth Abraham will host a genealogy program Sunday entitled “How to Find Your Jewish Great-Grandparents, Even Though You Know It’s Impossible.”

Renee Tepper, adult education chairman for Beth Abraham, said the topic of genealogy has been one of increasing interest at the temple.

The talk will be led by Meredith Hoffman of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Boston. Hoffman, who holds a degree in linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley and a certificate from Boston University’s Genealogical Research Program, specializes in researching 19th and early 20th century Jewish immigrant ancestors.

The talk will be an introduction to genealogical research beginners, teaching participants to search US immigration records as well as some specialized Jewish sources of information.

That information can then be used to start a search in other countries, like those of Eastern Europe, where many Jews come from.

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place Sunday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
