Submissions are now being accepted for the fourth annual Canton Writes competition.

Canton residents are invited to prepare entries in two categories – poetry and short stories. Submissions can be made to either or both categories, but no entry can exceed 1,000 words.

There will be five age classes: elementary school, middle school, high school, young adult ages 19 to 30, and adult.

Entries must be submitted by e-mail to cantonwrites@town.canton.ma.us in a rich text or Microsoft Word format of a version 2007 or earlier. All entries should include a title, the category, and the age class. Entries should not include your name.

Gold, silver, and bronze prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges in each category. Winners will be notified by e-mail and announced in the Canton Citizen on April 12.

Awards night will be on April 16 at the Canton Public Library. Authors will have the opportunity to read their work to the assembly.

Submission forms can be downloaded at town.canton.ma.us/library. The deadline for entries is March 1.
