Canton hired an attorney to represent the town in an upcoming proposed 40B development on the Canton/Milton town line called Milton Mews.
The attorney, Mark Bobrowski, sent the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency a letter this month in addition to the letter the town sent in June outlining the reasons the project should not move forward.
Bobrowski’s letter was four times as long as the town’s, and outlines specific reasons including traffic, emergency access, environmental factors, and historical effects of the project.
The construction project would consist of 276 units built in Milton, but the property owned by developer Mill Creek Residential Trust includes three acres of land in Canton.
While Milton is below the 10 percent affordable housing threshold required for the 40B law to take effect, Canton is not.
