Rules for boating and other activities at Reservoir Pond in Canton may soon change.
Selectmen established a Reservoir Pond Advisory Committee at their meeting Tuesday that would make non-binding recommendations to selectmen about issues including use, access, and rules for the centrally located pond.
The committee will include 13 members for one-year terms appointed from various town departments, including police, fire, recreation, and conservation commission, and other town organizations, including the Reservoir Pond Preservation Assocation, Pleasant Circle Improvement Association, the Williams Street neighborhood group, Wampatuck Country Club, Orchard Cover Senior Living, and Massachusetts Hospital School.
The town acquired Reservoir Pond from Canton Development Properties in December.
Recommendations selectmen will look for from the committee include the types of boats permitted on the pond, where the boat launches should be, safety issues, and establishing hours of operation.
Selectmen will send notices to the above organizations to get members for the committee.
