A plan to renovate a Warren Street office building and parking garage in Charlestown to include apartments and retail stores has been unanimously approved the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

City officials approved the $10 million project for 40 Warren St. that will create 14 apartments and convert 3,000 square feet of garage space into retail space on the ground floor. The building will keep 14 parking spaces.

Tenants of the refaced building will have access to roof decks and two of the units will qualify as affordable housing.

The Charlestown Neighborhood Council worked with the authority over the past year to refine the proposal and address community concerns.

The project is expected to create 30 construction jobs.

Project developers include Nova Partners and Boston-based architecture firm Hresko Associates, Inc.
