Landscaper charged with poisoning dogs in Charlestown
An Everett man is set to appear in court Monday to face charges that he poisoned dogs with hot dogs soaked in antifreeze while working in Charlestown.
Kenneth Hyland, a 53-year-old landscaper, was arrested Friday and charged with poisoning animals after police received reports that he was allegedly spreading cut up pieces of hot dogs on the lawn of 550 Medford St. in Charlestown.
Neighbors reported that they saw hot dogs soaking in a bucket of blue-green liquid believed to be antifreeze while Hyland cut the lawn.
He then allegedly spread the hot dog pieces onto the lawn, according to Boston Police.
Some neighbors believe Hyland was retaliating against dog owners who didn’t clean up after their pets, according to The Associated Press.
Hyland is scheduled to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court Monday.
