Go to the Council on Aging for its annual Holiday Sale on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The sale is at Harvey’s Treasure Chest just inside the building at 1276 Main Street. While you are there, take in the photography exhibit of Emerson Hospital cardiologist Dr. Steven Herson. The exhibit is up through Dec. 2.

This is the last chance to digest the plan for the new high school before Town Meeting on Monday. Go here to check out the plans and be well informed before you vote. Remember, it is a simple majority vote despite the borrowing because the motion comes from the School Committee so a two-thirds majority is not required. But the post-Town Meeting balloting is required and that takes place on Nov. 15 in both towns.

The Concord Festival of Authors continues about town this weekend with four events to close out the book bash. Tonight is Mystery Night 2011 at the library where three mystery writers discuss their work starting at 7:30 p.m. at 129 Main Street. On Saturday, Nov. 5, there is Breakfast with the Authors at 8 a.m. the Colonial Inn for $20 featuring Leah Hagen Cohen, Julia Glass and Ha Jin, and on Sunday, Nov. 6 there are two events you will want to take in. At Dabblers Hobbies and Cafe in West Concord, go to “Foods that keep you feeling sexy, happy and healthy,” with Debra Stark of Debra’s Natural Gourmet, and at the Concord Bookshop on Main Street, take in “Living and Painting in a Changing New England” with Loring Coleman at 3 p.m.

Tonight at 7 p.m. the boys varsity football team and varsity cheerleaders play Wayland High School at Wayland. Go Patriots! On Saturday at 4 p.m. the boys varsity soccer team plays Shawsheen and on Sunday, the girls soccer team faces Central Catholic high at Concord-Carlisle.
