The Danvers Fire Department is holding a Fire Safety Open House at Danvers Fire Headquarters on Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

October is National Fire Prevention Month, and Papa Gino’s is teaming up with local fire departments to help educate the community on fire safety and prevention.  For the past 17 years, New England Fire Departments and Papa Gino’s have helped more than 2 million people by supplying educational materials and free pizza at fire safety open houses.

Some of the exciting visuals include firefighters demonstrating the way to escape a smoke-filled room, cooking safety tips, fire prevention tips and Sparky, the fire safety mascot, interacting with the children. Each year, fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England.  Fire Safety Open Houses are geared towards educating the community and preparing them for potential fires.  Each year, these Open Houses help to better prepare families in the event of a fire and hopefully save lives.

For more information about the Fire Prevention Open Houses in your coverage area, please call Marianne Sabella Dempsey at 508-435-2020.  For additional information about this open house, please contact Lt. Jim Brooks at Danvers Fire.
