Danvers wreath making, tree lighting highlight holiday events

Danvers' annual Wreath Making Extravaganza is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday at the Danvers Art Association.

The event will be hosted by the Essex County Horticultural Organization.

The holiday festivities will continue on Dec. 3 with the tree lighting ceremony in Danvers Square as part of the 13th annual Danvers Holiday Festival. The festival will begin at 2 p.m. with the tree lighting and will end with Santa arriving by fire truck at the Christmas tree in Danvers Square.

Santa will also be at the Maple Street Church as the Danvers High School Key Club take pictures of children on Santa's lap.

A DJ will provide entertainment along with bell ringers. Several businesses will offer free products

At 5 p.m. on Dec. 7, Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston Tree of Lights annual Tree of Lights ceremony will be held at the People’s United Bank (1 Conant St.) in Danvers Square.

The Tree of Lights ceremonies are a longstanding tradition for many families and part of a new holiday ritual for those families who have lost loved ones this year.
