About 15 volunteers helped install bike racks and clear leaves from the Danvers Rail Trail this weekend.

The Danvers Rail Tail Committee officially launched a program on Saturday that allows people to pay $150 to sponsor a tenth of a mile on the Danvers Rail Trail for a year or $500 to sponsor a full mile for a year.

The event also serve as a volunteering opportunity. Volunteers helped clear leaves and installed bike racks. About fifteen volunteers helped install four bike racks along the trail at the Swampwalk (a boardwalk adjacent to the trail near the Wenham line), Hobart/Charter streets, Tapley/Pine streets, and at the Peabody line by the new soccer facility.

"And the trail was raked of leaves and debris," Danvers Senior Planner Kate Day said in an email. "A very hard-working and enthusiastic group."
