Route 128 on ramp at Route 62 remains closed in Danvers
The Liberty Street (Route 62) on ramp to Route 128 north in Danvers remains closed because of a water main break, according to Danvers Department of Public Works Director of Operations Bob Lee. He said the ramp would be closed through Friday morning.
Lee said a 30-inch Salem-owned water line on Liberty Street north of Route 62 burst around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
“Danvers DPW went down to monitor the section the best that they could and as of 45 minutes ago they shut the water off and were able to control it and repairs are being taken care of by Salem DPW,” Lee said just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
Salem officials are warning residents through the city's Code Red alert system that some residents might have discolored water. The alert says that the water is safe to drink but discolored water should not be used to wash laundry.
Lee also said there was some flooding in the area.
“Flooding as far as I know was contained by the drainage system but we did have word that one property on Orchard Street was flooded,” he said. “I’m unaware if the water affected the house."
