The Peabody Institute Library in Danvers is set to offer an interactive lecture that takes a look at the odd tales, history and beauty of the 34 Boston Harbor Islands.

The event will take place Wednesday August 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library on Sylvan Street.

Boston-based author Christopher Klein will take attendees through a virtual tour of the islands telling tales of ghosts, shipwrecks, prisoners of war and battles that took place on "the real Shutter Islands."

Klein is an author and freelance writer specializing in travel, history, and sports. His most recent book is "The Die-Hard Sports Fan's Guide to Boston," a handbook for spectator sporting events in and around Boston. He is also the author of "Discovering the Boston Harbor Islands: A Guide to the City's Hidden Shores."

He is currently writing Strong Boy (Lyons Press, 2013), the story of America's first sports superstar, the brash, colorful Irish-American boxer John L. Sullivan.

To register for the event go to the Peabody Institute Library website.
