The following are excerpts from arrest and incident logs provided by the Dedham Police Department. All suspects are presumed to be not guilty until proven otherwise in a court of law.

On July 24, at 1:59 a.m., a resident of Doggett Circle called police to complain about a repetitive, loud thumping noise. Officers who responded took a report.

At 8:12 p.m., security at Legacy Place informed police that several youths were attempting to break in to the Dedham Cabinet Shop. Police added the complaint to their report.

At 10:56 p.m., Miguel J. Bretto, 48, of Marshfield was arrested on Providence Highway, charged with a third offense of shoplifting by concealing merchandise. No other information was available.

At 11:03 p.m., Bernadette J. Lambert, 42, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. She was later released on her own recognizance.

On July 25, at 12:50 a.m., police responded to a woman's complaint that a man followed her into a ladies room at Legacy Place.

At 9:30 a.m., police responded to a call for help for a disabled vehicle from a bus driver who had run his vehicle aground on a curb on Bridge Street.

At 12:35 p.m., Anthony F. Mazzarella, 46, of East Street was arrested and charged with violating an abuse prevention order. He was released to an outside agency, according to the police log.

Matthew J. Collier of Altoona Road in Dedham was arrested on July 26 and charged with intimidating a witness as well as domestic assault and battery. Bail was set at $40 for Collier, 47, who was later released on his own recognizance.

Also on July 26, at 1:44 p.m., officers responded to a request to check the well-being of a 2-year-old child seen wandering alone in the Dedham Plaza parking lot. Police spoke to the child's guardian, after a pair of sheriff's deputies returned her safely home.

At 5:56 p.m., five police officers responded to Carroll Road in Westwood where a blond child was seen on the side of the road. State and Westwood police were also notified. No further information was available.

A caller reported a sink hole on Bonney Lane at 6:14 p.m. Police paged the town's Department of Public Works, which responded.

At 7:43 p.m., police drove to West Street to respond to an active burglar alarm sounding from a first-floor window. But when they got there, they were met by the residents and window cleaners who apparently tripped the alarm.

Shortly after that, at 8:35, police dispersed three youths who had gathered on Louise Road and were disturbing neighbors.

At 10:08, p.m., officers received a call from a Common Street resident who was lost in the woods with three children and a dog. The group was later located, according to the log.

Three minutes later, an Ames Street resident reported a disturbance, saying youths were in a swimming pool. A search of the property, however, didn't yield anyone, according to police.
