The Dedham Library saw a changing of the guard last week as embattled, seven-year director Patricia Lambert moved on after her contact was not renewed in June.

In her place, at least temporarily, is reference librarian Lisa Ingemi, who has agreed to serve as acting director beginning today until an interim leader can be appointed to run the operation until a permanent director is identified and hired.

Lambert’s relationship with the library’s board of trustees had become increasingly strained and at a June meeting four members of the panel voted not to renew her contract when it expires on June 30, 2012.

At the time, trustees had questioned Lambert’s decision to authorize a supervisor to lay off three pages without their approval and the relationship seemed to degrade from there. She said she was only following past practices and urged the board to write a new policy.
