The Dedham Public Library will host Boston-area authors Meg Mitchell Moore and Laura Harrington this evening at 7.

Moore, of Newburyport, released her first book “The Arrivals” earlier this year and her second, "So Far Away," comes out in 2012. According to her website, Moore previously worked for several years as a journalist, with work published in “Yankee,” “Continental,” “Women’s Health,” and “Advertising Age,” among others.

Harrington, who teaches playwriting at MIT, has won accolades including the Clauder Competition for best new play in New England and the 2009 Levitan Prize for excellence in teaching.

She is working on a novel called “A Catalogue of Birds” as well as a song cycle with composer Elena Ruehr and a series of choral works with composer Roger Ames, according to her website.

Harrington’s previous work includes the novel “Alice Bliss,” about a young girl working to cope with her father’s deployment to Iraq.

Both authors will be reading from their work, and attendees will have a chance to ask questions and talk about the books. Refreshments will be served; the event will be held at the main library building, 43 Church St., in Dedham.
