The Dedham Library Innovation Team will host its first fund-raiser, a murder mystery night, on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dedham Library.
The library will be transformed into Goose Neck Lake Lodge, and participants, broken up in six groups, will interact with about 10 suspects. Featured players include local politicians, a state representative, and a few “neighborhood celebrities,” said innovation team member Rachel Forsyth-Tuerck.
“We’re trying to make the library a fun, community place and raise money at the same time,” Forsyth-Tuerck said.
Money raised will go toward library programs, materials, and books for both Dedham libraries and local schools.
Forsyth-Tuerck said the mystery’s plot, which was written for production in a library, is “pretty involved” and includes characters who will unleash clues during each rotation. She added that the darkened and decorated library rooms will provide the perfect backdrop.
“Libraries can be pretty creepy at night, so it creates a perfect setting for a murder mystery,” she said.
Tickets are $20 and include refreshments; however, space is limited to the first 50 people. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the DLIT Facebook page or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
