Dependable Cleaners kicked off its 14th Annual Read to Ride program May 14 and is inviting Dedham children to participate.

The program is designed to encourage students to keep up the momentum of school while instilling a love of reading and staying healthy during summer vacation, a news release said.

Starting this week, students ages 6 to 15, including those in Dedham, will have the chance to win a bike or another prize for every book they read.

“Studies show that children who develop a love of reading early in life often see more success in school and in life,” Christa Hagearty, president of Dependable Cleaners, said in a statement.

Read to Ride will run through Aug. 13, and this year’s program will include free “story-time with the author” events that will feature well-known children’s authors at Buttonwood Books in Cohasset on May 20 at 1 p.m.

Interested participants should fill out an entry form available at www.dependablecleaners.com and bring it to any of the 16 Dependable Cleaners locations.

For Dedham residents, the closest location is at 338 Granite Ave. in Milton.
