A Wrentham man pleaded not guilty in Dedham District Court Thursday morning in connection to a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a 26-year-old woman in Westwood Monday night.
Donald A. Gentile, is accused in the accident that injured Jillian Belanger, who was walking on the 400 block of Washington Street when a car in the southbound lane struck her just before 9 p.m.
He faces charges that include leaving the scene of an accident that caused injury and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, said David Traub, spokesman for the Norfolk County District Attorney.
Gentile is being held without bail for 60 days, due to a previous domestic assault case out of Wrentham District Court on which he was out on bail. A pre-trial conference for the Westwood incident is scheduled for July 19.
Westwood police arrested Gentile Wednesday morning after receiving a call from a police recruit who spotted a white car with some front-end damage on the Massachusetts Turnpike, Traub said. The recruit recognized the car from the surveillance video released to local media.
After spotting the car, the recruit, who was on his way to the academy, pulled up alongside the vehicle and snapped a few pictures, including one of the license plate. He then sent the images to Westwood Police.
Gentile was arrested shortly thereafter, Traub said.
Westwood police are asking anyone who may have additional information to call 781-320-1000.
