Dedham veterans selling candles to raise money
The veterans of Dedham have joined forces this month to raise money for events and services through a Yankee Candle fund-raiser.
Bill Aitken, veterans service officer for the town, said that money raised will go “to aiding veterans.”
The Veterans Service Office at Town Hall has catalogues of the candles, which vary in price. Aitken said the various veterans groups in town joined together and decided on selling candles because “it was something different.”
“This is the first year that the veterans have done any type of fund-raising,” Aitken said.
A notice from the town added that the money raised through fund-raiser will also be used to help not only the veterans, but widows of veterans and their families.
All orders are tax free and must be requested by Sept. 7. Catalogues are available at Town Hall, 26 Bryant St. and more information is available by emailing Bill Aitken at waitken@dedham-ma.gov or calling 781-751-9265
