The town of Dedham was recently selected as a finalist for a 100 Best Communities for Young People award sponsored by America’s Promise Alliance and ING.

According to a news release, the town’s youth commission submitted an application to the program earlier this year highlighting the efforts of local groups and town departments.

A live awards show will be broadcast online Sept. 12 and Dedham will host a “watch party” at Dedham High School that day from noon to 12:30 p.m. for students who attended the College Bound Program, Dedham youth Commission Staff, and town officials.

Town Administrator Bill Keegan will address attendees after the awards ceremony.

If the town is selected as one of the top 100 towns, it will receive a trophy, a sign, and a $2,500 award.
