The chefs and staff at Summer Shack in Dedham want the public to know one thing -- they love making people happy.

So, as a way to celebrate the Dedham location's first anniversary and reach out to the community, Chef Jasper White is bringing in barbecue guru and "Hells Kitchen" star Andy Husbands for a night of meat.

The event will be held Oct. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. and highlight the restaurant's new outdoor smoker and “finger lickin’ favorites,” a news release said. Menu items include ribs, chicken, and sliders, along with collard greens and cornbread.

White said it’s a chance for him to share his recently expanded menu and feature Husbands, a fellow chef and friend.

“If I’m going to do ribs, I’m not going to fake it, I’m going to do ribs the right way,” White said. “(Husbands) is like the barbecue king.”

Dishes will be served a la carte and priced individually, but for non-meat eaters, the regular menu will also be served. Husbands will also be selling his new book, "Wicked Good Barbecue."

White said that if this event goes well, he’ll consider holding others like it and may start a “chef series,” in which famous chefs prepare special dinners, similar to the series at his restaurant in Hingham.

“We’re hoping it gives people a reason to come here, it’s going to be a fun night, and it’s just one of the ways we like to create community,” he said.
