Dedham High students, businesses to participate in 'Go to School Day'
Dedham High School is one of six area schools participating in a “Go to School Day” event Dec. 5 designed to share the school’s successes and give students a chance to meet important men and women in their communities.
According to a statement from Principal Ron McCarthy, students will mingle with members of the local business community and with legislative representatives.
Several Dedham individuals and businesses were selected to meet with the students and attend two class sessions. Many of those chosen are part of the district’s “Schools to Careers Partnership” program.
“This should be … a time where we can concretely demonstrate the high caliber of our students and our schools,” McCarthy said in a statement.
Participants will spend about two hours at the school and each will give a short “elevator speech” about their business or careers before being paired up with a student "shadow."
After the two classes, participants and students will have a chance to mingle at a reception and evaluate the experience.
