Dedham police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday night near River Street and Whiting Avenue.

According to a press release this morning, the victim was driving on River Street when another car crossed the double yellow lines and pulled up alongside him or her and “fired several rounds into” the other car.

Police said the victim sustained only minor injuries and could only describe the suspect’s vehicle as a “white sports car, possibly a Mitsubishi.” The car left the scene up River Street toward Oakdale Square.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated, and police spokesman Bobby Nedder said they are not releasing any additional information about the incident or suspect at this time.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Michael Doyle at the department’s detective bureau at 781-751-9300.
