The Dedham Public Schools awarded 53 high school seniors with John and Abigail Adams Scholarships.

Superintendent June Doe, with the help of the students’ teachers and guidance counselors, spoke about each individual student, recognizing academic achievements, awards won, sports involvement, community service, and a few other individual traits.

Students had gone on trips to Guatemala, coached youth baseball, helped develop the Dedham Public Schools website, and one bakes and designs cakes and cupcakes.

As each student was called, he or she joined Doe and Dedham High School Principal Ron McCarthy on the Dedham Middle School Auditorium stage. In the audience were School Committee members and the students’ parents.

“To the parents, thanks for joining us,” Doe said. “You don’t get talented students without great parents and it is time to say thank you to each of you. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes it doesn’t feel like fun, but you’ve done a great job. These students are fine representatives of Dedham.”
