Dedham police log: Jan. 22 to 28

The following information was taken from the Dedham police log. Suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Tuesday, Jan. 22
Attempted fraud: At 2 p.m., police received a report of a Booth Road resident having received a call from someone who said he was from Publishers Clearing House. That person told the resident that she had won a major prize and instructed the resident to purchase a $250 gift card. If the resident sent in the card, she would receive the prize. The resident reported the call to police.

Theft: At 5:35 p.m., police received a report of theft from a Providence Highway business. Cash from the person’s locker was taken.

Wednesday, Jan. 23
Theft: At 12:15 p.m., police received a report of theft from Washington Street. A ring and cash were missing.

Theft: At 2:24 p.m., police received a report of theft from a Legacy Place business. A person said he daughter’s iPhone 4 was taken from a countertop at her place of employment.

Thursday, Jan. 24
Arrest: At 2:28 p.m., police arrested Robert E. Williams, 27, of Dorchester on warrants for speeding and driving with a suspended license. Williams was arrested on East Street.

Fraud: At 5:11 p.m., police received a report of bank card fraud from a Milton Street resident. Purchases were made at Walmart.com and sent to a New York address.

Friday, Jan. 25
Break-in: At 5:56 a.m., police received a report that a Bussey Street building was entered. Entry was gained through a rear door and a television was taken.

Scam: At 8:52 a.m., police received a report of an attempted scam at a Hooper Road residence. The resident had placed an item for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by someone who was purchasing the item. The resident received an e-mail from the person saying he sent a check to her and he wanted her to send a check to a third party shipper. The check was for $2,500 and she was to send $437 for the shipping. The resident did not send the money and reported the matter to police.

Theft: At 12:50 p.m., police received a report of theft from a Lowder Street resident. The person reported jewelry missing from the house.

Accident: At 3:49 p.m., police responded to an accident on Providence Highway involving a gray 2007 Mazda and a blue 2010 BMW. The BMW was stopped in traffic at a red light on Providence Highway southbound when the vehicle was struck from behind by the Mazda. One driver was evaluated for an elbow injury at the scene and later released.

Fraud: At 4:16 p.m., police received a report of debit card fraud from a Cedar Street resident. Purchases were made on the resident’s card at a bus terminal in Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

Saturday, Jan. 26
Arrest: At 1:39 a.m., police arrested Marie J. Fitzhenry, 53, of Dedham and charged her with domestic assault and battery. Fitzhenry was arrested on Overlook Road.

Arrest: At 1:52 p.m., police arrested Michael E. Giannetti, 35, of Hyde Park and charged him with possession of a Class B substance, subsequent offense, and possession of a Class E substance.

Sunday, Jan. 27
Theft: At 8:20 p.m., police received a report of a theft from a vehicle on Bussey Street. Two GPS units were taken from an unlocked vehicle.

Monday, Jan. 28
Arrest: At 12:10 a.m., police arrested Richard D. Vaughan, 32, of Dedham and charged him with domestic assault. Vaughan was arrested on Trenton Road.
