Drunk-driving and negligent-homicide charges against 19-year-old Edgard Henriquez of Dedham have been withdrawn, according to the police chief in Jaffrey, N.H.,

Henriquez had been charged with negligent homicide and aggravated driving while intoxicated following a Sunday, April 14, car accident in which 19-year-old Dedham resident Peter Melville died.

Melville was a passenger in a 2006 Honda Accord traveling north on N.H. State Route 202 when Henriquez lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and crashed into the woods on the westbound side of the roadway, according to a release from the Jaffrey police.

Henriquez and another passenger, Tyler Tobin, 18, of Dedham, were taken to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, N.H., with injuries.

In the investigation of the accident, Jaffrey police determined that charges against Henriquez be dropped.

“The investigation is still ongoing and no additional information can be provided at this time,” said Police Chief William Oswalt.Oswalt in a statement Monday.
