Peter Melville, a 19-year-old Dedham resident, has been identified as the person who died in an alleged drunk-driving accident Sunday in Jaffrey, N.H.

The N.H. State Medical Examiner’s office determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Melville was a member of the Dedham High School class of 2012 and a member of the Dean College class of 2016.

The accident took place on Sunday at 4:40 a.m., when Melville was a passenger in a car driven by Edgard Henriquez, 19, of Dedham.

The 2006 Honda Accord was traveling north on N.H. State Route 202 when Henriquez lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and crashed into the woods on the westbound side of the roadway, according to a release from the Jaffrey police.

Henriquez and another passenger, Tyler Tobin, 18, of Dedham, were taken to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, N.H., with injuries.

Henriquez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and negligent homicide – driving under the influence – and was released on $50,000, according to the police statement.

Melville’s funeral will take place Saturday at 8 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dedham. Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home at 456 High St. will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Patricia (Benedetti) Melville, and two brothers, Christopher and Jack, all of Dedham, according to his obituary, published Tuesday.
