Dedham Youth Hockey Squirts champs with selectmen

Dedham selectmen honored its Greater Boston Youth Hockey League's Squirt Division team Thursday.

Striding in with Coach Derek Moulton, the team placed their championship trophy on the desk directly in front of selectmen chairman Carmen Dello Iacono.

"We played Southie on St. Patrick's Day and that was the last team, and we were determined not to let them carry that trophy in the St. Patrick's Day Parade," Moulton said. "It was a great team effort."

Selectmen handed out certificates to all the players, many of whom will move on to the Peewee Division next year.

"We appreciate you showing you can do hard work and work together and ultimately come home champions," said Selectwoman Sarah MacDonald on Thursday. "Thank you to the parents for schlepping you around. We know that is not easy."
