Dedham High School student Brandon Pelchat played the market and won.

Pelchat was announced as the winner of the spring 2013 Stock Market Game for Massachusetts.

Students were given a hypothetical $100,000 to invest in the stock market on Feb. 11. Pelchat earned $19,858.49 by the close of the game on April 19, besting all other competitors by more than $4,000.

There were 1,118 other students who participated in Massachusetts.

Pelchat received an award for his achievement this week.

He and his classmates participated in the game as part of their economics class at Dedham High School, instructed by Andrew Morton.
