Dedham selectmen on Wednesday plan to unveil a plan to acquire the property at 100-150 Rustcraft Road.

The space would be used to house a police station, senior center, and town hall in addition to other municipal uses.

Both the location of a police station and the location of a senior center have been contentious issues in Dedham, as numerous plans for a senior center have been turned down in recent years, and neighbors criticized a plan to locate the police station at a former church parking lot on High Street.

The town does not have a senior center, and the police station is inadequate for the town’s needs, according to Police Chief Michael d’Entremont.

The Rustcraft property was acquired in February by the Davis Cos. of Boston, which will be working with the town to see if the town can use the space.

Selectmen Carmen Dello Iacono and Michael Butler have been taking the lead on finding out how the building can be acquired and what would be done with the town’s existing facilities.

The meeting will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Dedham Middle School.
