Dedham citizens police academy accepting applications

The Dedham Police Department announced today it will hold its Citizens Police Academy starting next month.

The informational program is designed to give residents an inside look at the workings of police department.

Participants will be presented with information from officers and "911" dispatchers touching on subjects including crime prevention, juvenile issues, alcohol enforcement, regional law enforcement councils, court procedures, sex offenders, firearms, law, domestic violence, narcotics, crime scene investigation, traffic issues, and motor vehicle law.

A tour of the Dedham Police Station will also be included.

The nine-week program, running from Sept. 25 to Nov. 20, will meet Wednesday nights starting at 6 p.m. for two-hour sessions.

The program is free of charge. Applications can be found at www.dedhampolice.org. Completed applications should be returned to Chief Michael d’Entremont, 600 High St., Dedham, MA 02026.
