Dorchester Board of Trade celebrate centennial

The Dorchester Board of Trade will celebrate its centennial anniversary Thursday.

To commemorate such a milestone the group will be holding a reception Thursday night at the Venezia restaurant in Dorchester.

“For 100 years, the Dorchester Board of Trade has remained committed to strengthening businesses and enriching the community. We strive daily to provide our members with a collaborative network of diverse commerce resources, business visibility, and promotional opportunities," said Philip J. Carver, Dorchester Board of Trade chairman and associate director of community relations at UMass Boston.

Along with celebration 100 years of hard work, the group will also be honoring Mayor Thomas Menino and City Councilor Maureen Feeney.

The centennial celebration will also coincide with the 100 year anniversaries of Carney Hospital, Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dolan Funeral Home, Dorchester Historical Society, Dorchester House and Fitzpatrick Brothers.

The event is open to the public and starts at 6 p.m.
