Dribble, dish and swish winners move onto regional competition

After a tough competition Friday night, five local youth will be possibly moving on to the regional NBA FIT / WNBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish basketball skills competition.
The winners of the skills competition that took place at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Upham’s Corner will now have the chance to compete at the Celtic’s practice space in Waltham in early 2012.
In the boy’s competition, Amare Yarde, age 7 of Mattapan will compete for a spot in the 7-8 age division, along with Jaimonie Simon, age 9 of Dorchester in the 9-10 age division; and River Yan, age 11 of Newton in the 11-12 age division.
For the girl’s competition, Shomara Smith-Core, age 9 of Dorchester will compete for a spot in the 9-10 age division; and Serena Smith, age 12 of Dorchester in the 11-12 age division.
The highest ranking participants from all the local Massachusetts competitions will be tallied and selected to move on to the regional competition.
The top scorers at the regional showcase will then move on to the national finals held in Orlando, Florida February 2012.
