The Dorchester House Multi-Service Center will now be able to serve more than 6,000 new patients after officials cut the ribbon on its $11.4 million expansion project Monday.
The center broke ground on the “The Doctor Will See You NOW!,” project in October 2010 with the help of $7.02 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
The expansion added 17,769 square-feet of new space and renovated 19,905 square-feet of the center’s existing structure, doubling the size of both the center’s Clinical Pharmacy and Lab.
The expansion also included the addition of nine new exam rooms for the center’s Urgent Care suite, nine new exam rooms for the Primary Care offices, and a new Physical Therapy Clinic, according to a press release from the center.
Founded 125 years ago, with 40 of those years acting as a health center, the Dorchester House Multi-Service Center now can see over 26,000 patient visits annually and the recent expansion was the center’s third expansion on its original structure.
