On Saturday Malcolm X Park in Roxbury will host a day of food, entertainment, and art.

The Arts in the Park event, presented by the Madison Park Development Corporation, will feature plenty of cool music and live graffiti artists painting on plywood setup around the park.

“I’m a huge fan of art and I feel Boston as a city could be booming for artists,” said James Pierre, of Arts in the Park. “We want to show the city that these artists are very talented people and should be brought to the table.”

The event has been held in Cambridge the past two years but organizers are bringing the event over the river to give Boston artists a chance to showcase their urban art and for residents to see some beautiful graffiti that isn’t on their mailboxes.

“We are really looking to create an atmosphere for kids in the area who might be interested in art and design. We want to give them an opportunity to talk with people about it and see some great artists at work,” said Pierre.

Saturday’s event will begin at 3:00 p.m. and run until 8:00 p.m.
