Voters in Dorchester overwhelmingly supported President Barack Obama and Democrat Elizabeth Warren during Tuesday’s election.

The neighborhood saw close to 65 percent of registered voters cast their ballots, on par with the overall citywide turnout of 64 percent.

It was a landslide for the president in Dorchester’s precincts, taking close to 87 percent of the total vote, according to preliminary results compiled by the Globe.

Republican Mitt Romney received very little support in Dorchester, with his best showing in Ward 16 Precinct 9, taking just over 44 percent of the vote in the precinct and just 12 percent of overall votes in the neighborhood.

Warren also saw strong support in Dorchester, taking close to 83 percent of the total vote.

Republican incumbent US Senator Scott Brown saw his best results in Ward 16 Precinct 12, taking close to 50 percent of the precinct’s votes and 15 percent of the overall votes in the neighborhood.
