Write on the DOT Reading Series to celebrate end of year Thursday
The Write on the DOT Reading Series will hold its year-end celebration this Thursday at the Savin Bar + Kitchen, 112 Savin Hill Ave.
Thursday’s event will feature a number of authors, poets, and artists from Dorchester and the University of Massachusetts Boston, who will share their stories and other creative works.
Organizers will also collect books for the group’s book drive, which will benefit young readers at the Community Academy for Science and Health and the Erick Jean Center for the Arts.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with live music by Colin O’Day. The readings will begin at 7 p.m. and include works by Krysten Hill, Joel Wool, Nazila Hafezi, and Karyn Polewaczyk.
The event is free, but participants are encouraged to bring new and lightly used books
The Write on the DOT Reading Series, a collaboration between UMass Boston students and Dorchester-based authors, is working to bridge the gap between the school and the community.
