Parade goers in 2012.

The Dorchester Day Parade may be months away, but the parade committee is already getting prepared for the annual “Mayor of Dorchester” race.

The coveted title has been awarded to a number of neighborhood dignitaries throughout the years and is currently held by Katie Hurley

In addition to a fancy medallion, the mayor also has the honor of marching in the Dorchester Day Parade, which will celebrate its 50th anniversay this year.

Those interested in competing for the title are invited to attend the Dorchester Day Parade Committee meeting on Monday, Feb. 18.

The meeting will be held at the Comfort Inn located at 900 Morrissey Blvd. and it will begin at 7 p.m.

Registration will remain open until Mar. 18. Those who cannot make either the February or March meeting, but would still like to compete should email info@dotdayparade.com or call (857)756-3675.
