The Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus has selected a new chairman and named a number of local legislatures to top leadership roles.

State Representative Marcos Devers, a Lawrence Democrat, will head up the caucus as chairman, with state Representative Carlos Henriquez, a Dorchester Democrat, selected as vice-chair; state Representative Russell Holmes, a Mattapan Democrat , treasurer; and state Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, a Jamaica Plain Democrat, clerk.

“I am excited to lead this charge and we are eager to move things forward to benefit the constituents of Massachusetts – Communities of Color are our Top Priority – and we look forward to working closer with those key community leaders to identify and bring resolution to the issues facing our undervalued populations,” Devers, who replaced Benjamin Swan, a Democrat state representative from Springfield, said in a statement.

The organization works to facilitate the development and power of people of color through the legislative process, community events, and literature, according to its website.
