The Neponset River, along with its scenic beauty, was also once home to one of the first chocolate factories in the United States.

The Boston Natural Areas Network and the Department of Conservation and Recreation will explore that history this Saturday during a free guided walk.

Participants can learn about all the wildlife along the river's banksand also learn about the sweet history of the Baker Chocolate Factory in Lower Mills.

The free walk begins at 1 p.m. and is for ages 10 and up.

Participants will meet at the public parking lot at Milton Landing, located near 25 Wharf St.
