It’s been rumored that the South Bay Shopping Center, between Dorchester and South Boston, is looking to expand.

Area residents have organized a discussion on the matter, to help interested parties find out exactly what is planned for the massive site and what residents would like to see there.

A public meeting has been organized by the Citizens Connect to South Bay and set for Sat., Mar. 9, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Local 12 Plumbers and Gasfitters Hall located at 1240 Massachusetts Ave.

Although there haven’t been any meetings regarding expansion of the site in recent years, a 2011 article in the Dorchester Reporter newspaper laid out one concept for the site that included expanding parcels towards Boston street and constructing space to possibly house a Lowe’s and BJ’s Wholesale Club.

For more information about the upcoming meeting email CitizensConnectToSouthBay@gmail.com or call (617) 388-5322.
