The Cape Verdean Prime Minister spoke with Dorchester residents Sunday at a forum at the Dorchester House Multi-Service Center in Fields Corner.

Prime Minister Jose Maria Neves has been in the country on an official visit since March. 27 and made a stop at the center Sunday for a community forum, according to the organization.

“Our health center serves one of the nation’s largest Cape Verdean communities and this will be a historic opportunity to learn about the Prime Minister’s vision for Cape Verde,” Walter J. Ramos, president and CEO of the Dorchester House, said in a statement prior to the event.

Neves, who began his tenure as the Prime Minister of the African island nation in 2001, also met with African leaders at the White House during his visit, which is expected to end Apr. 2, according to the Embassy of Cape Verde.
