Dorchester will come together over the weekend to raise money and support a city healing after the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Hometown Comfort, set for Sunday at the IBEW Local 103 on Freeport Street, will bring together over 25 area chefs for a night of comfort food and friends.

The neighborhood may still be recovering from the loss of one of its own, but with the food and family, organizers hope a lot of good can come out of the event.

“Dorchester is a community of action and determination, and despite our grief and shock we are compelled to act – we all want to do whatever we can,” Mark Juaire, spokesperson for the event, said in a statement. “Hometown Comfort is about helping, and about coming together so we can heal – individually and as a community.”

With entertainment, plenty of food, and NPR’s Tom Ashbrook hosting the event, organizers are confident that even with the overshadowing of the Marathon’s tragic events, a community can heal and return stronger.

“No matter where any of us live, we all consider the victims and first responder as neighbors. Our hope is that by coming together to honor them, by celebrating life and the people of this great city, it will help us all on the road to recovery,” Juaire said.

The event will be broken up into two parts.

From 12p.m. - 4 p.m. family activities will be held. A $25 donation is suggested.

A blood drive will be held from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

During the evening, the tasting, which will feature both Dorchester and area chefs, will be held from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets for the tasting are $75 per person or $50 with a blood donation.

All money will go directly to the One Fund-Boston.
