The two-story structure at the base of the Neponset Bridge, once the home of Ups n' Downs bar, will be replaced by a real-estate office and barber shop, according to its new owner, Denis Keohane.

Shuttered in 2012, the building at 469 Neponset Ave. had a number of violent incidents leading up to its closure.

Keohane, who is the chairman of the Board of Selectmen in Milton, will go before the Port Norfolk Neighborhood Association Tuesday night to discuss his plan, which requires a change of use variance from the city’s Zoning Board.

The bar’s liquor license was sold in early-2012 and Keohane said he purchased the property for $280,000 two-months ago.

Few changes are expected to be made to the exterior of the structure, excluding sign replacement. The billboard above the building, leased by Clear Channel, has been rented and paid for until the end of the year, said Keohane.

The owner of the Keohane Company and a resident of Milton, in 2008 Keohane led the redevelopment of the 12-unit brick building at 5 Woodworth St.
